I’m participating in the #digitalstrike today with the rest of the @youthclimatesave organizers because it’s important to stand in solidarity with youth activists around the world and support each other’s causes because it’s all connected. I also want to put out a call to action to youth climate activists around the world and ask that they include animal agriculture in their climate action platform and eat plant based foods to lower their carbon footprint. Together we can heal the planet but it will only happen if we raise awareness about the negative impact animal agriculture has on the planet and urge people to take action by replacing meals that contain meat and dairy with plant based options. . . Please support @youthclimatesave and the YCS chapters. We are the first youth led climate group that focuses on animal agriculture. In just two weeks, we have chapters from 8 countries and growing each day! @youthclimatesaveminnesota @youthclimatesavenorfolk @youthclimatesavecasimiro @youthclimatesavesandiego @youthclimatesavenewyork @youthclimatesave_uttarpradesh @youthclimatesaveoc @youthclimatesavepomona @youthclimatesavela @youthclimatesave_sanjose @youthclimatesaveaustralia @youthclimatesavebrasil @youthclimatesavetoronto @youthclimatesavemexicocity @youthclimatesavetanzania @youthclimatesavesorocaba @youthclimatesavemelbourne @youthclimatesaveontario @youthclimatesavetemecula @youth_climate_save_india @youthclimatesavealberta @youth_climatesavewillington @youthclimatesavedc @youthclimatesavedubai @youthclimatesaveatlanta @youthclimatesavespain #fridaysforfuture #digitalstrike #gretathunberg #youthactivists #climateaction #climateactivists #youthclimateactivists #youthclimatesavemovement #climatesavemovement #vegan #vegano #vegana #ffa #4h #animalagriculture #animalag #fightclimatechangewithdietchange #animalliberation #climatecrisis #climatestrikeonline #animalactivist #environment #environmentalist #environmentalactivist #covid19
This is the grassroots leader of this new grassroots movement. If she mud-wrestles Greta, I vow to go vegan for a week.
I have asked multiple vegans I had the misfortune of coming into contact with – online, thankfully, or else I might be in jail right now – why is it that there has never been a single recorded human society to eat only plants.
None of them ever give me a straight answer, and pivot back to one of the standard propaganda lines, usually the one that says bacon was my friend all along but I never noticed because capitalism or something.
Thankfully for me, there is a new vegan movement that is certain to clear up this misunderstanding and others, just as Greta Thunberg cleared up all of my questions about the weather.
The vegan cult website Plant Based News has all the details on this new movement:
A new youth movement is tackling climate change – by focussing its attention on the damage animal agriculture is doing to the planet.
The Youth Climate Save Movement, led by vegan advocate Genesis Butler, is part of the Global Climate Save Movement.
Founded just two weeks ago, this first youth-led climate movement focusing on animal agriculture already has 25 chapters in 10 countries – the U.S., U.K., Brazil, Spain, Australia, Africa, Dubai, Canada, Mexico, and India.
Africa isn’t a country, but let’s not concern ourselves with the little things.
I’m happy that Genesis is finally getting the attention she deserves, considering how much work her parents have been putting into pumping fame and fortune out of her.
A three-year-old niglet who doesn’t want to eat chicken nuggets. Totally believable, isn’t it? After all, the natural diet of Africans is mud pies.
They must be from the talented tenth, the small percentage of blacks who realize that there’s better ways to take Whitey’s money than robbing him with a shiv.
According to the organization, its mission is to ‘give youth a platform to have their voices heard about the issues affecting our climate and their futures’.
The mission statement adds: “We stress the importance of the effects of animal agriculture as the leading cause of our environmental decline. Animal agriculture is creating climate disasters, ocean dead zones, deforestation, species extinction, animal suffering, and health impacts.
“We believe you can help by adopting a vegan diet and by working with schools, governments, and hospitals in your community to keep this planet habitable.”
If you haven’t heard of this, you will soon. She’s even got a… a Marvel comic book with herself on it? This is grassroots on steroids, a new movement debuting with backing from Disney.
Genesis Butler, lead organizer, told Plant Based News: “I am so excited to start Youth Climate Save which is part of the global Climate Save movement. I have been an animal rights activist for seven years and I became a climate activist three years ago.
“There are many youth-led climate movements that are doing amazing work but they focus on fossil fuels. It’s important for people to understand how animal agriculture is just as destructive to the planet and the climate as fossil fuels.
“Activists from around the world joined forces so we can ensure animal agriculture is part of the climate change discussion and that people understand we will never be able to reverse climate change if we don’t address animal agriculture.”
Is there anything veganism can’t do?
If you think the answer is “yes,” I suggest you say it now while it’s still legal.
Lana Weid, Youth Climate Save DC chapter organizer, added: “I have been involved in the youth climate strikes since they first came to the United States and Youth Climate Save is the first youth-led climate organization to deliberately make the crucial connection between fighting factory farming and successful climate action.
“Factory farming and animal agriculture are a massive source of greenhouse gases, especially methane which acts in the short term. Youth Climate Save organizers are bringing in a powerful element to the fight against climate change by addressing our broken food system where not only billions of animals suffer on factory farms, but also where change can bring the most opportunity for carbon sequestration and fast action against the climate crisis.”
Of all the arguments vegans have, the one on “animal suffering” always annoys me the most.
Most vegans think Bambi is a documentary, and that animals are always happy until (a straight White) man comes in and hecks everything up for no reason.
Anybody who thinks the average farm is worse than what an animal would go through living in the wild is completely out of touch with nature.
Now you know why penguins walk funny
Apparently, this Genesis child – or should I say “chald”? – has been waiting in the wings for a while, as she did a TEDx talk when she was 10.
Greta has given life to a “children will lead them” movement, and with the collapsed economy, there is going to be even more reason for you to eat soy and insects instead of food.
So get ready for this little vegetable niglet to be your nagging new mommy.
