Look at this showroom – it’s filled with fabulous prizes!
In the latest and most extraordinary effort yet to boost California’s flagging COVID-19 vaccination rates, state officials on Thursday announced what appears to be the largest inoculation incentive in the nation: the chance for 10 residents to win $1.5 million apiece.
The goal of the multimillion-dollar giveaway is simple: Give residents every possible motivation to finally roll up their sleeves as the state’s vaccine rollout enters its crucial next phase.
Those prizes — along with 30 additional awards of $50,000 each — are open to Californians who have gotten at least one dose. Those who have previously received their shots will be entered into the drawings automatically, and there is no need to register, according to state officials.
Because there is a centralized database of everyone who was vaxxed that includes their social security number.
“These are real incentives. These are an opportunity to say thank you to those not only seeking to get vaccinated as we move forward, but also those that have been vaccinated since we first availed those opportunities a number of months ago,” Gov. Gavin Newsom said Thursday.
The grand prize recipients will be chosen June 15, the date the state is set to fully reopen its economy. The $50,000 winners will be selected in two batches, half on June 4 and the rest on June 11.
Should someone under 18 win, the prize will be put in a savings account until they come of age.
Additionally, starting Thursday, the next 2 million people who begin and finish their COVID-19 vaccine series will automatically be eligible for either a $50 prepaid gift card or a $50 grocery card that can be used at supermarkets such as Ralphs, Food 4 Less, Albertsons, Vons, Pavilions, Safeway and Andronico’s.
They really are taking this to a whole new level.
California will be the first state to start really putting the hard squeeze on non-vaxxed. They’re just trying to get as many people as possible. People who have already been vaxxed are committed to it.
When Gavin Newsom heard about Mike DeWine’s plan to turn vaxxing into a lottery, it was like the first time he heard The Monkees.
He said to himself: “this is the future.”
There isn’t really anything else to say about this, is there?
If the vaccine was truly the miracle they claim it is, they wouldn’t have to pay people to take it.
We should probably start asking what exactly the goal with this is.
I’m really exhausted by boomer takes on all of this.
There isn’t a new virus. If there was a new virus, there would be new deaths. The only places that recorded new deaths were countries with socialized, centralized medical systems. There were no new deaths in the United States.
What did people think when they heard the flu disappeared and now the coronavirus is killing the same number of people that the flu used to kill?
Also, boomer: yes, the economy can just keep running as long as they want it to. There is no reason you can’t have infinite real estate and stock bubbles. They are saying “the economy is better than ever.”
There were never any fundamentals of this economy. There was never any connection between the production and distribution of resources. This is already the future. Go look at China – everyone is rich, because it is just really easy to produce material wealth in current year.
They don’t even show Chinese cities on TV.
People would be like, “wait – what?”
There is no reason that the US government cannot just slowly drain people of their remaining wealth through inflation, without some collapse.
The big thing was just adjusting people to a lower standard of living, and that has already happened. Now it’s just going to be a decline, until everyone is forced to live in a small apartment in a high rise building being paid an allowance by the government.
There is no reason Tesla stock can’t be worth $100 trillion per share.
They can squeeze people.
