Alec Baldwin “Accidentally” Shoots Director, Kills Crew Member on Set of Film

The whole media is saying “misfire.”

I don’t think that is the correct word here.

The gun was loaded with bullets instead of blanks.

NY Daily News:

Alec Baldwin fatally shot a movie crew member with a “prop firearm” during a film shoot in New Mexico, authorities said Thursday.

The shooting also injured the film’s director, a county sheriff’s office spokesman said, according to the Santa Fe New Mexican.

Baldwin was filming a scene for the movie “Rust” when the prop gun went off, said authorities.

“There was an accident today on the New Mexico set of ‘Rust’ involving the misfire of a prop gun with blanks,” a spokesperson for Baldwin told People.

At around 1:50 p.m. local time, authorities responded to the Bonanza Creek Ranch after a 911 caller said that “an individual had been shot on set,” the sheriff’s department said.

No charges have yet been filed as police investigate.

This same thing famously happened to Brandon Lee (son of Bruce Lee) on the set of the film “The Crow.”

I don’t remember the movie all that well, and don’t think it was very good. That is despite the fact that I’m a big fan of 1990s action and scifi films.

But as I recall, Lee’s character had died and came back to life, and had some kind of magic powers. I guess he was basically a ghost. So he went to kill the people who killed him. It’s a fantasy action revenge movie. They would shoot at him and the bullets would just pass through him, because he was somehow ethereal.

So, when a scene was being shot where he was being shot, he actually got shot.

But in this Baldwin situation – why was he shooting at the director? He would normally be shooting at other actors, no?

I mean, I guess you film scenes from different angles, and so there are going to be various situations where the director might be in front filming an actor shooting.

But we should remember – Alec Baldwin is famously a very angry man. He’s been arrested for having angry public meltdowns.

His daughter, Ireland (who is now married to Justin Bieber), once posted a voicemail she received from her dad when she was 12.

(It’s a horrible woman move to post a voicemail publicly like this. And I’m sure her mother is awful. But it shows he’s not really an adult. He should be able to control these emotions.)

So honestly, I wouldn’t really be surprised if Baldwin was angry at the director and compiled a plot to kill him. If it was just “dead crew member,” okay – but hitting the director? It seems unlikely.

This is a Western, so it would be a revolver. Blanks are pretty clearly marked.

To be fair, the director looks like someone it would be pretty easy to get mad at.

Anyway, weird story.

Whatever the case, this is an example of something bad happening to a bad person. Alec Baldwin is just a bubbling cauldron of anger and hatred. Really a useless individual.

Now, he has to live the rest of his life knowing he killed some innocent woman.

I have known people who have accidentally killed people, and it’s really hard to deal with. Even if Baldwin wasn’t purposefully trying to murder the director, he’s still going to be haunted by this.

And yes, I would say he will be haunted. If he was a legit psychopath, and not just a bitter asshole, he wouldn’t get so emotional all the time. People who can kill innocents and feel nothing are not the type to constantly have emotional freakouts.

Bill Gates is an example of someone who could kill innocent people and feel nothing.

I will say this: Alec Baldwin playing a cowboy makes about as much sense as Bill Gates playing a cowboy.

It seems unlikely this film will ever get finished now.

Baldwin will probably sink back into serious drinking.

These are the photos from after the shooting happened (presumably, he’s on the phone hearing that the woman has died):

You nibbers want to see what a permanent, life-altering psychological wound looks like?

I’ve had a couple of those moments myself. He’s going to be thinking of that exact moment, replaying it over and over and over again tens of thousands of times for years.

Honestly, as much as I don’t like him, he can’t blame himself for this, and he needs to learn to ultimately forgive himself. This is a massive crew fuck up. But you do wonder, would this have happened to a conservative actor who knew about guns like John Wayne and probably always double checked what he was working with, vs. a Manhattan shitlib who supports attenuating the second amendment?

It is sad.
